I understand the aversion to welding aluminum, at least in theory. But there are an awful lot of welded components on spars out there, most of which give no problems. Goosenecks, Shroud & Stay Tangs,... |

For weight, strength, stiffness, & corrosion resistance, bare aluminum surely is nice. And neither the collar nor other attachments must be welded on. You can have a slip on, oversized, cranse iron... |
