You're doing okay with descriptions. Better than many with lots of sailing time. If I get a moment later, I'll see how you're doing. But in the meantime, it couldn't hurt to get a few sailors...

You might try bending that arm back up, & into better position. Along with running the line through a small block attached to the deck, instead of the current fairlead.
