Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Boreal

Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Boreal
The drag from a well designed pilot house, or hard dodger, needn't be high at all. As putting together an aerodynamic shape's for one is pretty easy. It's all of the parasitic drag that tends to be... |

Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Boreal
Nice looking boat. Though I'm not fully in love with the location of the engine. With regards to wtin rudders, a lot of boats that have them seem to fair pretty well. But one nice option for them,... |

Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Boreal
Every racing boat I've ever been on has had a bendable spar, the keel stepped ones more than deck stepped. Masthead & fractional. I'm thinking that you have your figuring bass ackwards on this.... |

Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Boreal
On the End Fixity "question", you can believe a certified expert on it, or not at your own peril. Well yours, & anyone within the fall radius of your spar. In addition to having the section of... |

Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Borealis
This is actually how they assemble a lot of masts which are too big for common transport, but that due to what the welding would do to the metal, it's the way to go. Usually there's a tapered... |

Re: Pilothouse Variations -- Borealis
Preface: Some of this is written for CF readers in general, & not just Dockhead. And my apoligies for the poor paragraph spacing, ergo, readability. The forum isn't interfacing well with my computer... |
