Could just be a part number moulded into the gearbox casing. But it looks more stamped than moulded into the cast. Can you clean and check?

1. is this a power boat or a sail boat? Where was it built?

Your Maxwell P10153 motor looks like it has only 2 bolts, not 4, through its flange, right? That's a marker of an earlier model windlass and fits in with the age of the boat.
