yes if your daysailing and have to make a port or beat a tide but offshore i have had many days making less than 50 miles in 24 hrs rather than listening to the engine, only my opinion buts its far...

if you are going windspeed fumes wouldnt be a problem on the boat. even if they were just speed up a bit. on a sailboat why would you have tour engine on, spinnakers dont give diesel fumes
