Well, the situation I described happened in 2005, so I don't believe it was a situation of being "under-prepared" for anything, save for perhaps the conditions we were in. |

Yes, I carry a sextant and know how to take an accurate noon sight. But, short of that, being able to maintain a DR would be a whole lot better than being completely lost, I'm sure you'd agree. |

Some people trust their electronics (and their batteries, and their wiring) 100 percent. The rest of us carry paper charts. |
