As I said in my post no 20 above, I have seen with my own eyes burn marks in my friend's boat where the lightning jumped 300mm to find a path from-the-chainplate-to-the-wiring-to-the-water,...

I agree that there is no protection from being hit, except perhaps that EMP device of which I had no knowledge until a few minutes ago.

And yes, cat have a much larger ground plane formed by two...
