TANSTAAFL. They're only "free" in that you don't pay for them as separate items, just like the shipping. Do you honestly believe that the cost of them isn't factored into their product pricing? |

Thermal conductivity of ice = 2.2 W/(m K) (approx) which is about twice as conductive as glass. |

That steam is lost energy. Reduce it and you reduce energy loss, ergo the pot will reach the desired temperature faster. |
