Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

I have 750W now but have not hooked them up. I have one more 250W panel gathering dust. My Outback 80 will take 1000W. I think I will now put that other 250 on my Bimini, not the best place of course...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Map is I guess average over a year? If so then I assume lower numbers in Winter as less sunlight plus more overcast days?
Sounds like I'm going to need 1KW to have a comfortable margin as I will...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

OK, so more like four to one, five to one to be conservative.
So if your consumption is 200 AH a day, you will need a Kilowatt of panels.

What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Got it, roughly three to one if you ignore units.
I have to wonder how some seem to get by on a couple of small panels, I assume they are chronically undercharged and run the motor often?

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

I get confused by your numbers, but I won't pick.

No matter, I guess what is important is that on average there are 5 hours of usable sun, and that a panel will on average return 80% of rated...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Question, on an average day in the "Caribbean" during the Winter months how much Solar is needed to replace 100 AH?

I know there are huge variables, and I do know my average consumption, just...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

Has to still be a transformer, now the DC to I assume pulsating DC conversion can maybe be solid state, but to change voltage requires a transformer, and windings? The Iron core of the transformer is...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

I guess I wasn't clear, what I am asking is how does something draw more than 5 W from the inverter to turn it on, when the inverter is off, isn't supplying power to begin with?
So it must have a...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

My inverter has some kind of scan mode, I can set the wattage, currently if nothing draws 5 W or more it goes into idle mode and draws almost nothing power wise.
What confuses me is if your not...

Re: What is your Real Amp Hour per Day Usage

I don't have a strong handle on my consumption either, but am planning on 200 AH per 24 hour cycle. I have TV's, a Stereo and a lot of other unnecessary "stuff"
I don't have a handle on it as I...
