Those ones with snorkel tubes, or maybe boxes etc. I wouldn't remove them for a K&N cone filter etc., reason is I feel pretty sure they are resonators, and may significantly reduce engine noise,... |

Normally marine engines do not have a filter, due to there just isn't that much dust on the water. Spark ignition engines do have a flame arrestor though, I believe a K&N will perform that function,... |

To use an aircraft term, I believe it's on condition, meaning replace them when they show wear, not on a calendar date? I've had them tear when cleaning, time for a new one, but they do need... |
