Re: A "Simple" Boat

When it comes right down to it, if a couple wants different things on their boat they probably aren't a good match to start with.

When I went to get our first boat and asked my wife she wanted on...

Re: A "Simple" Boat

None of this is limited to boats, people do this in general as a sport. The same couple would be complaining just as much on land.

On the other hand, I expect a lot of women take offense to the...

Re: A "Simple" Boat

I just posed a question and am not really looking for anything!

Re: A "Simple" Boat

Not looking to argue. But I am still waiting for the description of the "simple" boat that certain members seem to always recommend for new cruisers.

And the members who I've read the "advise"...

Re: A "Simple" Boat

To get to different places of course. The only reason I got interested in sailing was as a way to afford to travel more.

Re: A "Simple" Boat

On the flip side, those with simple boats who still have a land home probably have:

- running water
- a flushing toilet
- hot water on demand that 99% of the time lasts as long as they want it...

[QUOTE=David_Old_Jersey;1390440]To get simple boat I think the key is to start with........

.........a simple sailor (of needs!).

If you ain't one of those then won't get a simple boat.[/QUOTE...

Re: A "Simple" Boat

I don't know what boat size has to do with this list (except bow thruster). A autopliot is an autopilot, a frig compressor a frig compressor, a water pump a water pump. Yes going without the listed...

Re: A "Simple" Boat

This "it is simple as long as you can fix it" position is interesting. Seems if this was the case there would be a lot less boats in the water.

I'm still kind of waiting for the members who are...

Re: a 'simple" boat

I will restate that the "complex" systems maintenance has been very minor time wise in my 6 years of sailing. The maintenance on the "simple" systems have taken up a lot more time.

I can and have...

A "Simple" Boat

Over the years I'm read lots of posts recommending people have a "simple" boat. I wonder just what people are recommending not to have in order to have a "simple" boat. My boat is fairly simple, but...
