Gday Jon, doing OK. Boat and I both in NZ... boat in re-hab.... should be out of shed next month with rig and keel back on....back to Chile Jan next year... Not sure if mine is a 'production boat'... |

The area around the Pot Boil and Vansitartt Shoals is the bit that is dodgy with the constantly shifting banks... I doubt much has changed offshore from Gull Island ( bottom right) for the last... |

Erm... Cook didn't do any Tas/Bass Strait survey work. And not so much errors in original surveys as ommissions.... if one excludes the longitude issue. Nothing wrong with a good old survey using... |

And also... much of Bass Strait and thereabouts further off shore has been surveyed with 'lines of soundings' dating from the 1800's. The lines of soundings were quite clear on the old imperial... |

Nothing new to any of this.... they may be experienced 'racers'.... experienced navigators? Probably not.... Back before GPS.... late 80's or v early 90's .... the day job...poking along in... |
