As with many things all stainless steel is not the same. I'm not sure what alloy stainless steel my chain is, but after 4 years of cruising full time with it, and having been in the water at least...

I bought new 3/8 chain and cruised full time for 4 years and it looked new after all that use.
Oh, yeah, it was stainless steel:p
