We old geezers love the positive stuff. Never stop moving. Have known people in their nineties still very active (mainly Norwegians X-country skiing and climbing mountains).

I liked the comment about sailing making you healthier. That has always been my experience. Spent a couple of months in the San Juans last summer working on my boat. Ate crab, spot prawns, oysters...

Some of the most avid sailors I know sail a dinghy. Cheap, easy and keeps you in shape.

I seem to recall Chichester being air lifted off his boat during a trans-Atlantic race and dying a short time later. What a way to go. Beats dying on a couch watching re-runs.

It's all about staying healthy. I'm 67 and the main problem I have with serious blue water cruising is that I enjoy my creature comforts too much. You can get hammered out there. Prefer coastal...
