Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Dave, Using the +/- keys this changes the steps from 3 to 8, using the mouse wheel it does not change it (on this chart anyway). I can live with that. Thanks for the info. Jon |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Dave, I have compiled a version up and installed it on my navigation PC to see what it is like with the S63 charts. It works as advertised. However, on the chart I gave as an example I get one... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Hubert, I have just done a quick test. If I have and 'Empty Group' chart group I get the effect, if I don't have one I don't. I created the 'Empty Group' earlier as a test for zooming and to... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Dave, I have just tried the new zoom. It looks good. I then started to play around and an unexpected event occurred. I set up a route, moved the boat near it (I currently don't have GPS... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Quick question, is it worth limiting the overzoom to the accuracy provided by the GPS? If the GPS accuracy is currently 200m then the overzoom could be limited to something sensible for this, if... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Dave, Thanks for doing that. I have been looking around to see how a fade could be implemented and I thought changing the alpha channel may have been a way to go for the background charts. The... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
In Australia the charts that are available for non-commercial areas are not accurate and you have to use them VERY carefully near land, reef, rocks, etc. Even not using GPS, i.e. standard visual... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
For vector charts at large overzoom where OCPN really becomes a 2D plotter, the chart really has little use apart from it is much easier to zoom in and out than to change chart groups, could we not... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
The AHO really don't care about the reef and the lagoon, no 'real' commercial shipping uses it. However, there is a MAJOR shipping lane that comes in at the NE, goes round the S and then W from the... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
Just to let you know there is a Flyspray feature request for overzoom, FS#1520. I had coded a solution and submitted it, but I was asked to open raise this question for general discussion. |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
You may get the accuracy in other parts of the world, but in Australia there is no augmentation system to use and the satellite constellations tend not to be good for real accuracy. We quite often... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
The only charts officially available for Australia are the AHO S63 charts. No other charts are recognised as being suitable for navigation by the Australian authorities. The CM93 chart I have is from... |

Re: S63 charts - overzoom
On the CM93 chart I can zoom in further than the S63 chart. The CM93 shown is from 2011, the S63 from Oct 2014. I should really be using the 2014, or current charts. The screen shots show CM93 at... |

S63 charts - overzoom
I used OCPN last year with CM93 charts and was reasonably happy with the zoom capability. Most of the time I could zoom in enough to distinguish my anchor marks and follow tracks I had made. This... |
