Woah. That's not right. Another classic "marine" repair. I fixed cars for a living and would never tolerate the quality of work I routinely see by marine "mechanics".

Please use blue Loctite 242...

The left image shows the cutter disc rubbing on the strut.

He's I think talking about the cutter disc hitting the P strut. Leave about 1/4" to 3/8" space between the the cutter disc and the strut.

There are two set screw holes on the starboard side of my strut.

Unless someone changed the skeg. The OP has the same year, make and model as my 1980 Pearson 323 which has a cutlass bearing.

or similar. I think there are places you can rent the puller. Or just press the old out with the new. A heat gun on the strut may help.

It's in there. Remove the set screw/s. The left picture the cutlass is flush with the strut. Ideally you have a replacement that runs the whole length but not critical but it does make changing it...
