Transmitterdan - I think those are some very fair points. I'll certainly change my mental order for sourcing leaks... although tasting it to see if it is fresh or seawater will still stay at the top....

I'm not so sure about the small backing plate theory. If that was the problem, we would have seen the bolts pull through the hull with their plates, leaving holes in way of the bolts. What I see is:...

The elephant in the room seems to me to be that the hull liner ('Matrix') is just glued in to the hull. A vast amount of evidence shows that there is no reliable way of gluing units in to a hull...
