I like the ability to easily direct the alternator to either bank for starting. How would you wire the regulator power and sense wires? ...

The basic question is what do you do about high current loads that should be disconnected when the LFP are low that will damage the relay.

50a charger would be good on a mooring and would help while cruising, but cruising with daily charging needs, with my old alternator requires too much engine time.

CNB thanks, I guess that provided the alternator is 1C or less that the voltage will drop down and the BMS must be very reliable for the disconnect. I'd like the disconnect to be automatic to avoid...

I get concerned about the voltage setting for FLA bulk charging at 14.7 to 14.8v. This is way too much for safe LFP charging. That is why the alt regulator needs to be a dual mode regulator. Mode 1...

Like an 80A alt output where trailing amps is below 10A for hours.

Exactly why I want to avoid using ICE for that long tail.

Now I've got it. LithiumFePo allows unheard of discharge rates compared to FLA, just as it has unheard of charge rates.

John, when I write FLA I mean floodedleadacid batteries, nothing more. Trojan T -105. I've had Gel and AGM but when talking about voltages etc I stick to fla right now.
