Re: 38-42ft bluewater cruiser - suggestions please!

Cabo Rico 42 or 45! They’re comfortable at sea, easy on the eyes and have gobs of headroom! A safer, smoother ride would be difficult to match.

Re: Rio Dulce

Back to the Rio Dulce. I’ve seen several posts indicating there are locals to help you get across the bar. Our boat draws 5.5/1.7m. Is there enough public knowledge out there to get in the river just...

4JH2-HTE Turbo

1.5 years into our latest labor of love, I’ve come across a question. As part of numerous reliability up grades to my 22 year old 4JH2-HTE with 1400hrs, I removed the induction system to gain access...

Re: Synthetic Blend or Regular?

I’m with the above logic. Regular oil changes with approved oil are the most important thing you can do. My Porsche requires synthetic so in this case that’s what I do; but any marine diesel in our...

Re: Gulf Crossing St.Petersburg to Gulfport,MS in late September

Congrats on the new boat! For me the risk of a tropical event and the maintenance issues of a new to you boat may be doable on their own, but placed together-wouldn’t be my preferred strategy.

Re: Working slip on Florida west coast (between Tampa and ft Myers)

I’m guessing your using spray for the repaint? If so, that’s going to be a hard sell anywhere. I’ve known several folks that have anchored out a day at a time to conduct spraying.

Re: Carabelle to Panama City.. SHOALS?

Yup. It’s shoaly. You generally see the shrimpers anchor about 8-10 miles out. Honestly, if it were me and you have less than 50’ air draft it would be quicker to just go up the river at Apalachicola...
