Update on first boat - Cat. 27
Ok, update on my first boat. You may have seen my previous post on a Pearson 26. Rusty keel bolts scared me away. Looked at a 1989 Catalina 27 with inboard Universal M3-20 that started instantly.... |

Re: First boat - 1978 Pearson 26
Good advice. I assume that inspecting them means separating the keel from the hull, removing, replacing and them resealing/repainting? All of a sudden this seems like a larger investment than I want... |

Re: First boat - 1978 Pearson 26
No, I haven't thought about anything trailerable. My work schedule dictates how much I'll actually be able to sail so I'd like to drive right to the marina and go. That, and I'd like to limit the... |

Re: Using housing stipend to pay for boat?
Thanks for the response. If I do decide to go this route it will likely be on my twilight tour so won't have to worry about transferring. |

Using housing stipend to pay for boat?
It's a rainy and foggy day here on the Emerald Coast of FL and that has me thinking about better days. I'm ~14 years from retirement from the Navy and have recently been thinking about cruising the... |

Re: Depressing day for new sailor
Thanks for the replies! It's good to see that I'm not only bonehead out there ;) I got a pretty good chuckle later that night, too. |

Depressing Day for New Sailor
Good morning all. Let me preface this message by telling you a little about myself. Just learned how to sail last year on a Catalina 22. I've taken out a Hunter 18 quite a few times and have been... |

Re: Heeling and New Sailor
Ha, I haven't been scared off - just working! The tips have been great and kind of affirmed what I was thinking. I really appreciate it. The boat is 18' and the keel was down. It probably wasn't even... |

Re: Heeling and new sailor
Thanks VirtualVagabond for the welcome. The two boats, the Capri 22 and the Hunter 180, handle much differently. During the sailing course we would get the Capri's rails wet and it felt quite right,... |

Heeling and New Sailor
