Starlink Roam issues in the ocean

Had this happen to us when I decided to stow while sailing at sea. Slow (less than 2 knots) and level the boat out then unstow.

Look at the coverage map. If your anchorages or moorings are in the blue tiles the 150 roam plan will work.

Lots of us us the cheaper 150 plan and toggle on the priority data for 2$/gb when...

Re: Waterproof outboard battery disconnect

I have been using those on our Yamaha 15/20hp 4S in wet weather for 9 months (full time cruisers) now with minimal issues. Fill full of dielectric grease to prevent corrosion. Occasionally I will...

Re: Defender Marine is exceptional

Interesting first post?

Used to order from them quite a bit. Bought a new Achilles inflatable from them a few years ago, had a few leaks right out the box. When asking for assistance they where...

Any Westerbeke 3 Cylinder Folks Out There?

When putting this back together, use the genuine Mitsubishi rings and head gasket. Aftermarket rings where so bad I sent them back, head gasket failed within 200hrs.

Not too expensive if you...

Re: Idea to free stuck pin?

You might as well drill out to 1/2in and have a nice clean hole to start fresh with.

NJ Wind Farm Approved

Look where it is. Cape May to NYC your likely inside of it. Cape May to Block your outside of it.

Looks positioned to avoid most marine traffic.

Re: why so many broken ring lands on yanmars?

The #3 is the furthest back and sits lower. It’s also the first to fill with water from faulty exhaust.

Re: Anticipated life-span of submerged outboard

The Nissan/tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke is a really simple motor.

Honestly I would not be too concerned if the mechanic got it to run like before with no extra noises or vibration. Bearings and...

The espar d4 (from which the Chinese heaters are a copy), marine installation manual is available online.

Re: Best Chinese Diesel Heaters with Links - 2023

Most issues are a result of improper installation.

Design is pretty solid, a copy of the Espar D2/D4.

Re: Best Chinese Diesel Heaters with Links - 2023

Most are similar with some minor differences in the controls. I have 800hrs on just a standard $100 one from eBay.

Recently this brand showed up as a premium. Apparently it has thicker ...

Just taking a look at the layout of the boat, there is a lot of storage and quarter berth on starboard side, make sure it’s not full of heavy items. Maybe transfer some to the port side.

I doubt...

Outboard decisions: 2 vs 4 strokes

I have had a lot of outboards 2-50hp 2 and 4 stroke.

Under 5 hp just go electric.

5-10 hp I prefer 2 stroke. 4 strokes of this size typically don’t have compression releases. Carb...
