Re: Keel replacement on Cape Cod Mercury, fin keel
Yes, they have just about every other part listed except the keel. The office is closed for the virus, I left a message. I'll pull it off and weigh it, see how much is gone in the meantime. |

Re: Are all 2 stroke outboards unreliable or is it just mine?
It's the "finest outboard for the world" and I have a 1977 converted to 25:1 that starts by the second pull everytime. It's such a simple design..if you can't get a Seagull to run, you probably just... |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Thanks for all the info and opinions sailors, it's really helped me sort out a strategy as I complete this re fit. Once the mast is down I can decide if the top of the mast is an option, if not,... |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Yep, that's my panel, except mine is not attach to the bulkhead currently. I have a circuit marked bow light I haven't tracked down. I thought I might change to circuit breakers.. |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Ya, that's been my approach so far. I pulled out the head, filled those holes and have a porti-potty for now. I kept the same fixtures but converted to led. I have the same panel as you do in this... |

It certainly could've been modified. Is that light marked "bow light" on the panel? |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
The thing I don't like is on the inside. ..comes out of the ceiling in the head and stapled down the wall. Easy to remove, pain to replace. |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
"Higher is always better.." That was my assumption as well but given Fine Tolerance's experience, I'm not so sure. It really is about a third of the cable to go to the tower. |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Ya, begs the question why put it there in the first place? I assumed it was factory but I could be wrong. The coax going thru the cabin top looks factory and old. |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Wow..that is interesting. Aesthetics aren't a first priority but I was trying to stay away from a 15' fiberglass whip with tennis balls on it, lol. |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Thanks..I was reading up on gain. Sounds like a 4' ss 3dB is going to be a good choice. Trying to simplify where I can and maybe get rid of one ugly wire. |

Re: Removing antenna from mast, good move?
Thanks Brian, that's great info! The mast antenna looks to be a stainless 18" variety. There's room for a larger one on the tower, is there a type that would help me gain back some of that loss? ... |

Re: What do you think this boat is worth$
Looks like a rich man's project. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean rich in a disparaging way, I just mean there are so many unknown variables that you will need real deep pockets to make this size... |
