Re: Low tech, simple heater
Can you share details of your composting head? I have a Morgan 323 and I'm wondering if I can fit one in there to replace the original head. Feel free to PM so I don't disrupt your thread on heat. ... |

Re: Yanmar 3GM-D with freshwater conversion to serpentine belt?
That's a lot more good info; thanks! I've got a lot to think about now. |

Re: Yanmar 3GM-D with freshwater conversion to serpentine belt?
Nice work on your setup! And that's good food for thought. I'm going to spend some time looking at my photos and maybe do some brainstorming with my brother. We might have to take a ride to Maine... |

Re: Yanmar 3GM-D with freshwater conversion to serpentine belt?
I just found some better photos; looking at them, I think the water pump belts are 3/8” and the alternator is 1/2”. Maybe I’ll go that route first and see if the V-belt will do it without slipping.... |

Re: Yanmar 3GM-D with freshwater conversion to serpentine belt?
I'm not too concerned about the labor since I'd be doing it, and if machining is required my brother is a retired toolmaker/machinist with a full shop at his house. So we could get it done. I was... |

Re: Yanmar 3GM-D with freshwater conversion to serpentine belt?
Yes, it's helpful. The additional water pump on this one does make it a bit more challenging. |

Yanmar 3GM-D with freshwater conversion to serpentine belt?
I have a 3GM-D that is now freshwater cooled. At some point before my ownership a heat exchanger and additional water pump were added in order to do this conversion. The top water pump and rearmost... |

Re: Old boat insurance???
I'll be watching this one; my wife and I bought a 39 year old boat this spring. It was in very good shape with no deferred maintenance. We got insurance with BoatUS/Geico, but we'll see what happens... |

Re: Bad experience with a yacht broker, appreciate some advice
We bought our boat this year, after carefully researching for 2.5 years. When we were ready to buy last summer, we narrowed down the boat style we were searching for, and the distance away it was. ... |

Re: Anchoring nightmare this week
We bought our 32' boat this spring from Long Island where it was mostly used for day sails with a few overnights. It did have a nice oversized Rocna and electric windlass, but only 30' of chain and... |

Re: Binoculars
We just got off the boat, having been in Maine for most of the last 4 months. Early on we bought a pair of the Nikon OceanPro 7 x 50, and they have been fine for us. This is coastal sailing,... |

Torqeedo 1003 falling apart?
Hello, I got a Torqeedo from a friend. It’s been working fine for 2 years of light use. I recently noticed the lower motor pod is now loose from the aluminum extrusion and there is a gap between... |

Re: Raymarine Quantum 2 doppler radar without heading sensor
That may be the way I go too. I was leaning towards the HSC100 from Digital Yacht, but then I’d need something like the Actisense gateway to convert to Nema2000; the combined price is getting close... |

Re: Raymarine Quantum 2 doppler radar without heading sensor
Which way did you guys looking for a compass end up going? I’m in the same boat now; I have an Axiom + and I’m adding a quantum 2 radar. For full functionality I need a compass, but the EV-1 seems... |

Re: Looking for input to decide on AIS transponder
So your problems went away with a new unit? Can you share a few details on your network/chartplotter? Thanks! |

Looking for input to decide on AIS transponder
OK, so we bought our first sailboat bigger than a dinghy, for coastal sailing. It's a Morgan 323, not that it really matters here. What does matter is that it came with a fairly new Raymarine... |

Re: Can you identify my cleat and track?
Not only did it pull out the threads, it split the cleat on a mold line. I was tempted to go to fixed, but it would take some doing due to a bulkhead and two other backing plates near where I would... |

Re: Can you identify my cleat and track?
Thanks for this! I hadn’t seen them before. They are precious though, but I ordered a couple today. I measured my track and it appears that they will work. |

Re: Can you identify my cleat and track?
Ok then, I guess it’s time to change them to solid cleats with backing plates. The bow and stern cleats all appear strong, but these midship ones on the tracks were pretty light for sure. Thanks... |

Can you identify my cleat and track?
I recently bought a 1984 Morgan 323. On a fuel stop an attendant hard cleated the spring line too fast and the cleat on my boat broke. Here are a couple photos. I’m trying to find a replacement. |
