Re: Live your dream - Proven passage-maker/live aboard

You are in luck, I came across a current listing for that boat. https://www.usedvictoria.com/classified-ad/42-steel-cutter-Savory-1981_37300995.lite

Not my boat but I’ve seen it bounce around...

Re: Frequency of Dinner Guests on Board?

Re: Strait of Juan de Fuca in an enterprise

The OP stated they are early on in the planning stages of his possible trip Vic to Port Angeles. Approaching others for advice, inside and outside this forum, seems like an obvious starting point and...

Re: Strait of Juan de Fuca in an enterprise

I erased a bunch of good information from the quote, for brevity. One comment about getting out of Pedder bay in these West wind conditions. You might find that the wind is still blowing you out of...

Re: Strait of Juan de Fuca in an enterprise

Welcome to the forum JAH9.

I'm curious about how crossing the border works when in a small vessel like this. I will be watching this thread with interest.

JAH9, have you thought about...

Re: Navionics question

Maybe the two charts are using a different tide level as base zero. In Navionics there is a ‘water level’ setting ( found under ‘menu’ then ‘map options’). Maybe your Navionics is set differently...

Re: Barometric Damper on Newport Diesel Heater

I recently installed a Newport and have fired it up a few times for a few hours each time. I have no damper and just under 5’ of pipe with a slight jog. It seems to work well but does take some...

Re: Day tank only for diesel Dickinson?

Geez, I’m sure I’ve read that manual three times front to back, but this time I found the hint on page 34 under “Cleaning the fuel line”. Thanks for mentioning that you have a plug there! That hose...

Lots of great info, thanks. And, you are correct about the 4' head not being a problem. Had I looked further into the manual than just the pretty pictures I would have seen this, " If installing a...

Re: Day tank only for diesel Dickinson?

Good tips. The damper is inexpensive enough that if it at all reduces blowback and the chance of having to clean the inside of the boat I'm sold on it. Or am I mistaken about that? The website...

Re: Day tank only for diesel Dickinson?

This is exactly why I searched out this thread. I fired up the Hi Seas heater for the first time last week that came with the boat and had diesel leaking from the heater in two different places, no...
