Please describe what wires you connected. If you connect the nmea0183 output of the plotter, to the nmea input of the spx5, you should be ok. red/yellow wires in pic.

What did you try? You can get rs232 pin outs with a simple google search(DB9 Pinout (https://www.db9-pinout.com)), you also need a serial port on your laptop (which they haven't put in in 10+ years),...

I don't think what was recommended above is correct. Please re-read my post above, and download document "Raymarine C wide series" as I indicated. This C series has the same wire color...

The GX2150 manual shows the "gray" wire is "DSC Output", yet you indicate it is an input?
