Agree that Oriental offers far better sailing opportunities than Morehead City. The latter is a fun place to visit, but Oriental is a better home base for a sailor.

Oriental, NC is on the Neuse River where is is 4-5 miles wide and 20’ depths...also the ICW passes through here. Sailing is very good and affordable marinas.

Agree with JD that it is good practice to set furler to ratchet once main is unfurled. This is ESSENTIAL if furling at the mast with a winch handle.

Mine slips as well. Had continuous line replaced with line recommended by Selden. Still slips often times. I simply put tension on the other end of the continuous furling line,mshich solves the issue.

Well, it works well for me...and others i know that use this technique. Perhaps, like other techniques, it’s not for everyone.

I almost always dock stern in. You might try turning around and stand facing aft, with the wheel in front of you. Then, the steering works just as your used to. Of course you have to get used to the...
