Chrysler 440 Back Fire

My Owens is powered with 2 440s. Starboard starts and idles fine. However as I throttle up at 1,200 rpms she back fires thru the carb and the engine quits running.
Any help would be appreciated.

If you register with the coast guard you do not have to register with any state.
Therefore you will never be billed for any type of excise or owner tax.
