Ramp slippery - I know this but still fell - ouch

I have a water craft that I need to step on fender on the trailer to get onto my water craft which is a PWC. This whole operation is fraught with danger as I need to step into the moss/algea covered...

Re: Trailering express cruiser... what size?

I think most trailerable cabin cruisers will weigh around 7,000lbs with a 2,500lb trailer. That is a total weight of close to 10,000lbs.

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

Sounds like I can get a long life out of a 4 cycle outboard. And does not seem like any HP rating is better or worse than any other. That is great news. I am thinking 150HP on the low end and 300HP...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

I didn't have an umbrella and worse I never thought I would drop the tool. It was funny as the water was clear and for .25 seconds I thought about diving in at try to get it but it was sinking really...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

Working on an outboard I have been known to drop a tool in the water. It surprised me as I do not drop tools.

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

That was my old method of fixing anything - do it myself. But now that I am officially a senior I tend to do less and less of the work. Sad, but true.

Re: Trailering express cruiser... what size?

I towed a 5th wheel for several years. I wanted to be no higher than 13.5' as that is the hight of a semi truck trailer. If a semi truck can go thru the tunnel so can I.

What is more troublesome...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

I am looking for fuel burn at 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000 RPM on a Yamaha 250 and 300HP 4 cycle outboards.

As most boat owners know it is the joy of being out on the water just floating on the...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

I think most modern outboards are direct injected too. That helps economy some. I agree, for the most part engines are built better with new designs and fewer moving parts. Again my friend had a 60...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

I plan to use the outboard in fresh water most of the time. If I explore the 1000 island area that might be a little salty I think. There are plenty of inland lakes to explore like Lake Cumberland...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

I had one I/O and felt it rode thru the water and my outboards rode on top of the water. I prefer the feel of an outboard.

I am reading a few forums and see the 4 cycle outboards still rev to...

Re: Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

My outboard experience has all be 2 cycle. 55HP Evenrude, 85 HP Force, and 100HP Sea Ray (Mercury).

I now have a 2018 SeaDoo GTX 230.

I would like to buy a cabin cruiser outboard. The engine...

Longevity of the new 4 cycle outboards ?

When I got into boating I tended to lean toward outboard powered boats. These were 2 cycle. Lots of power and fun to run. But they were known to have about half the longevity as the I/O engines. I...

Re: Buying a cruiser - confused about engines

I am seeing more and more outboard powered cruisers. To me, if using a boat in salt water an outboard is a really good option. In outboard power you will be looking at twin engines.

I am looking...

Re: Nor-Tech 52 Center Console

If I looked up the right boat that is a high performance center console. But I did not see twin diesel engines but big outboards pushing the boat fast.

It looks like the boat can take more that...

Re: Looking for a cobalt 302 in Europe

That is an expensive used boat. I seeing prices over 100g's in the U.S. for a 2011. Try www.boattrader.com and www.boats.com as those are what I use.

Re: Towable boats

I am figuring on a 1,200 to 1,500 lb. trailer. So yes, the truck would be towing the trailer with a big ole boat on it I towed smaller boats with zero sway. I used undersized tow vehicles and still...

Re: Towable boats

I think a F-150 could easily tow a Ranger Tug R-23 or the Cutwater 24. But probably not the Regal 26 XO and maybe not the Baja 25 Outlaw or a Ranger Tug R-27.

I would be towing 500 miles in some...

Towable boats

What boat and what do you tow it with? I have a 2017 F-250 that could tow the boats I am looking for. Ranger Tug 27, Regal 26 XO, Cutwater 24, and Baja 25 outlaw.

I would like to get a smaller...

Agree the Cutwater 24 is probably the way to go. I am liking the Cutwater slightly better than the Ranger Tug. Are these two boats built by the same company?

Like GMC is a little nicer than Chevy...

Re: Talk me off the ledge

I failed to mention that the Baja 30 Outlaw has a nice cuddy cabin but with twin powerful I/O engines is a 70 mph plus boat. Has me thinking cheap/expensive fun. Cheap because these boats are older....

Talk me off the ledge

I started looking at the 23 Ranger Tug, Cutwater 24, and even the Regal 26 XO. All outboards which I believe would be better for longer use because it is easier to drain the water from the engine.

Re: How to charter a trawler to "try out" onboard living

Thinking outside the walls. Many people including me lived for awhile (6 years) in an RV. That is much easier than living on a boat. Maybe you could rent an RV just to see if that is doable. You...
