I haven't sailed in the ocean, but I sailed it plenty in Lake michigan. It's pretty much an inland sea, and can kick up some pretty nasty storms. I bought the Bristol because it's the heftiest cruiser in it's size class. It can definitely take a beating. It's not the fastest boat out there, btu it's very comfortable and forgiving. It's strong and heavy enough to handle whatever you throw at her, but short and shallow enough in the draft to go just abiout anywhere. Which one are you lookinng at, they had two different set ups inside... and how much are you spending on her?
