I understand about hitting the wrong button, etc. I find things a little confusing to keep up with notes sent/received, as I just saw yours about Aussie dollar and Blackhawk's inception. Thanks for the tip about not trying to fly there to buy and fit out, although it's not the answer I'd hoped for. I feel certain that there are boat yards in the Philippines or maybe SE Asia that do a great job for pennies on the dollar, although this could be no more than wishful thinking. My desire to chuck my current life and get back on a boat (my own cruiser) is driving me insane. Limited finances, no trust fund, living in a very expensive locale. I'm so damn busy trying to keep up I can't stop to change tracks. I guess everyone starts out like this. Hey, where there's a will there's a way.
Be in touch when you're in the mood for a Bay Area Report.

Well, you started on the bay around the time I arrived in SF but I didn't get drawn into regular crew/races until the mid 80's. I'm no longer interested in racing but am getting somewhat mad about getting another boat and leaving the bay for Mexico and the S. Pacific. Over the years I've had a couple of friends out in San Ramon. The one that comes to mind is Dan McCaughin. Over in Blackhawk it would have been Scott Edelman, but both were some years ago.
I'm glad you dropped a note. Can I ask your opinion about my coming to your area or elsewhere in the SPac to find an affordable cruiser of 30' or so, instead of trying to do it here in the bay area where prices for boats and for any kind of work is expensive? So very few places to live aboard here on the bay while working and outfitting a boat. Your thoughts? Also, any opinion about finding and outfitting elsewhere in the SPac?
Best regards,
Mark
