It is used the same way in the poem, but they are in Alaska and I always thought that the word came from Athabaskan Eskimo. Maybe some language similarities? In Alaska, one is either a "Sourdough" (experienced) or Cheechako (tenderfoot). In the Ballad, Major Brown is arrogant and pretending to be a sourdough when in fact he is the quintessential cheechako.
Hi Cheechako,
I got a 1 cyl air cooled diesel engine that i would like to make a combo gen set/ water maker. You said you make these, Do you have plans to build them? and do you sell them? Any guidance on how to go about building one will be greatly appreciated.
Hi Cheechako you'd posted a single line about the Ericson independence. I am considering it for living aboard in Baja's Sea of Cortez for a few months. Anything you could share about the boat's characteristics, good or bad, and whether you think it might be a good fit for long-term cruising would be great. Thanks! David
