Ahoy Mate. Couldn't help but notice that you make a lot of references to "one of those idiots" doing something you don't approve of. For what is worth, those references don't make you a bigger or smarter man and detract from your credibility. You're a" senior cruiser",whatever that means. Probably that you paid a fee. Whatever; you should be ta better example for others, not running others down. I doubt that you are that rare bird who is right 100 percent right about everything. Just sayin'....

Also thinking the cutlass bearing could be seized up. He can stick a wire in the front and not the back., Thinking that's explains the good reverse and not forward.

This is about the rusty prop shaft. I think you nailed it. Any suggestions? Happy to replace everything but need to get to that haul out spot first. How fast does it tear the PSS and cutlass up? It's possible to sail most if not all of the way but we're going against the weather and currents. Friends plan to come visit and I'd like to accomodate them if we could but know this is a major prioriety. I already have all the parts waiting for an address.

As of June 2014, we are the newest owners of Cheechako (Esther N -Web of Lies - MudKat - now Mare Canis). Prior to making an offer, we had a survey done which showed damp core below the waterline in both hulls and some above the waterline on the starboard side. We moved forward with the purchase after finding a good contractor to replace the core and reseal all the through hull fittings. Before we finish repairs and splash in November, we are trying to cover all of the bases on the possible entry points. A boat accident history report listed only one in 1997 while she was "Shantih". We cannot find any contact info for the owner, but saw that you purchased her in 1998, so were wondering if you knew anything more about the damage - primarily where the damage occurred. We really appreciate any insights and look forward to swapping stories with you over what we hope to be many more years on the water for Cheechako/Mare Canis. Thanks! Diane and Fred

Is there any way you can remember that guys name in Michigan you spoke about in the anchoring section ? I need help and his winch may be just what I am looking for.
