On a chainplate discussion, you commented that you would avoid the messy job of replacing them unless corroded.

I have a 1969 Rawson 30 whose chainplates are glassed in and cannot be inspected.

Opinions vary over whether these should be replaced.

Replacement involves mounting new ones on the outside of the hull.

What are your thoughts about whether I should replace them or not?

Is there any way you can remember that guys name in Michigan you spoke about in the anchoring section ? I need help and his winch may be just what I am looking for.
