Their boat did very well overall. They broke one starboard forward bulkhead loose when sailing to windward in heavy conditions. They ran into a whale in the south Pacific without sustaining any damage. They capsized in the Agulhas current off the coast of south Africa and bent their boom in the process, and the life raft was washed overboard and disappeared in the capsize. Other than that they had an unremarkable trip around the world. They also had wind vane steering and no mechanical autopilot. Their wind vane seemed to work well for them, at least they did not give any complaints. I don't remember the name of the wind vane, but it operated on a trim tab system under water, and it was not an Aries.

The T30 was up to the job, and they sailed it hard with no fear.

Thank you for the reply, it is very sad for anyone to pass on at such a early age, from any circumstances let alone cancer.
can you recall anything that might be of use from there journey with a T30?

The person who did that circumnavigation died in his forties of lung cancer many years ago. He is no longer with us, and I don't know what happened to his wife.

    Hello Maxingout
I apologize for bugging you out of the blue, but i was wondering if i could get some more information on a long dead post you made, ? Waaaaay back in 2010, you commented to someone about knowing a couple who had circumnavigated in a Tartan 30....is there any way i could get some more information on that?

    Respectfully
    Cyric
