    Although they are probably in ok shape, they both lack the feature you would especially want, the LOW GEAR.
    Look for a Husqvarna Viking in the 5000 or 6000 model ranges.

    is the type you want. Forget this particular one unless you really know how to fix them, but the basic LOOK of this knob layout is going to have the low gear.
    The bobbin winder is on the low down right side. To access low gear, you pull out on it.

    I was reading a thread about sewing machines and you seem to know your stuff. I need to get a new used sail; it seems like they all have bad or no uv covers, And the foil tapes are the wrong sizes. You mentioned viking sewing machines. There are a couple on ebay at the moment a viking 51 and a 21e. Do you think any of these machines would be a good choice to have around for this kind of work?
