Kennels in the E. Caribbean

You all were so helpful on the 'getting our dog back aboard' thread that we want to another question. For those of you who have a large dog and need to make occasional trips back to the US from the E. Caribbean, what do you do? Graduations, family reunions, weddings, etc....you need to leave the boat for several weeks, what about the dog? Flying the dog with you seems highly unpractical and somewhat dangerous.

Are there good kennels between St. Thomas and Grenada somewhere that you can recommend. I found the website for Paaws Antigua which looks very good. Any others we should know about?

Thanks!!

Rob

Re: Kennels in the E. Caribbean

The Pet Motel and Spa in Grenada has a very nice place to board your dogs and she is reasonable. Her web site is....http://the-pet-motel-spa.com

I have left my small dog with her several times and she is very accomodating, but you must book early with her as she has limited space.

Hope this helps.

Re: Kennels in the E. Caribbean

Try Grenada cruisers forum on facebook and ask for Jenny the veg lady's number or sometimes students at the veterinary school will look after dogs.
Personally I would not have a dog there at all; our previously healthy Lab got very sick and I flew him home for treatment he could not receive in Grenada.
A good friend lost his dog there to tick fever.

Please be careful and good luck.
