Re: Dog Potty Breaks During Extended Cruising

I'd be curious about OZ and NZ as well. I have heard that both countries are sticklers for quarantining visiting pets - 6 months is a time that sticks in my head but I don't remember too well since I doubt I would visit either country if I get to that hemisphere. Not because I wouldn't want to but because of their very strict policies. So I am interested in hearing more about this.

Re: Dog Potty Breaks During Extended Cruising

Depending on the countries you visited recently, the quarantine period alters. NZ is more relaxed than Aus. I think a 5 day quarantine is possible in NZ but one month is the shortest in Aus, although it can be spent on board the yacht while anchored out with weekly visits from the vet. The best option to bring a dog into Aus may be to travel to NZ, quarantine on board for a 5 days, spend a couple of months there then no quarantine is needed on entering Aus. It seems the rules change a bit and it very much depends on If you have recently been in certain countries recently before arriving in Australia. You would need to speak with AU quarantine to work out a plan prior to arrival.
