Polux that's a nice vid. And yeah it's a boat made to get knocked down and come up again and again. Lightweight and planing hull.

Surprisingly little waves for 40-50 kts on the ocean. It looked like fun except his decision to put up the spin...

I love the moment when he tries to put a spi on. Big balls and not much sense. The boat broaches immediately. Well not a big problem for him, just the time to take the spi away and there he goes again at full blast.

That is awesome!!! What boat is that I want one!

It is a good time to start thinking in having one. That is a Beneteau Figaro II, a oceanic solo race boat, the one that is used on the French ocean solo championship and I say it is a good time to start thinking about that because the boat is going to be substituted by the Figaro III.



On ny blog you can find information about all that. It will come cheap and it is a very good boat to be transformed on a cruising boat, kind of a spartan one but a great sailing boat nonetheless.

I don't think so, it looks to me a very beautiful boat but in what regards edge design the eyes take some time to adapt but in the end it is what it works regards performance that defines beauty in sailboats.

Some are still unable to find beauty in anything more advanced than it was the edge design from the 30's (and that define what we call know classic looks), some have moved past that and find beauty in race top developments from the 80's and some few can find beauty in today edge racing design.

But in the end it is just a question of time to today's race boats to look beautiful to all. Some need more time others less.

This was another of the three designs that made to the final poll and even if it was not retained, it was also beautiful:

I think these designs are real sexy... Im in Port La foret in Brittany and the marina is a base for the imoca 60s. I could stare at these all day.. I want one as a cruiser..

Maximum speed is never comfortable even if for some it is lot's of fun. But You can sail that boat on those conditions at a bit more than half that speed (and even so much faster than cruising boats) and then you would be sailing a very seaworthy fast boat, sailing comfortably.

Off course, there is no fun in that and some like to have fun sailing, even while cruising, but I agree that is too much. Anyway very few would be able to sail that boat at that speed on those conditions.

Have a good trip Ken. Will Pam still be commuting, or has she decided to join you full time? We'll be back on our boat June 1st but may be crewing on Tasman for part of our trip. Either way, it will be good to be back on the water.

This PRB was next to me last week.. They hit something on the keel and were working through the night for 2 nights to repair it so they could get racing, Today to NY.

Yeah... but would it go so well once its loaded with the watermaker, freezer, icemaker, A/C, generator etc..
