Re: So - Pocket Yachtsmen - UNITE ! (How many of us are there?)

Nicest small (trailerable) offshore boat I've had the considerable pleasure of sailing is this one, built by the owner and his wife (I did some of the engineering)

Loosely based on a Catalina 23' by Alan Wright

Their maiden voyage was from Lyttelton NZ to the Bay of Islands but the boat has covered the east coast of the three main islands

Swing keel, can be locked at any position. Most of the ballast in the stub keel. Sails particularly sweetly: fast in light weather, safe in heavy.

Our club lets me enjoy a West Wight Potter 19 from time to time and it really is a pleasure to sail. Accomodations below are a bit cramped for me as a 6' plus older person but still it is fun.
kind regards,

Sorry, just noticed I already responded earlier to this thread. Gettin' old means every bit of information is news to me.
kind regards,

I count myself amongst you. Although truth be told the extent of my experience is rentals. Hopefully this spring my Precious will be voyaging up and down the coast of California.

Congrats!

I had one of those. It was my first "real" sailboat (before that, I had a 12' styrofoam Snark). I traded the SJ 21 as a down payment for my Nomad.

Have fun with her!

Thanks Dean! this is my first sailboat - love it. It's a fair bit of work to get ready and go compared to the powerboat we used to have - but we are getting faster and she's already taught us a lot! It sails beautifully in light winds. Our sailing journey has begun

Re: So - Pocket Yachtsmen - UNITE ! (How many of us are there?)

We are sailing primarily on Shuswap, Okanagan and Kalamalka Lakes in southern British Columbia. Hope to have lots of fun, improve our skills with her, spend a few weekends overnighting on the water and set the stage for moving up to a larger yacht moored in the ocean somewhere. I don't have many pics yet, but here are a few.
