Newbie from Scotland
Hi everyone, just joined the forum today. I have a Shetland 4+2 cabin cruiser powered by a Yanmar D36 outboard diesel engine, bought it this year, up here in the north of Scotland no one seems to have any knowlege of these engines GOOD or BAD. Does anybody here know about them.

Welcome Fraser. Lost of people from all over the world here to chat with. You may want to try the following thread for engines:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...splay.php?f=54 It would probably also help if you were to fill in a bit of information about yourself into your profile - you can access that by clicking on PROFILE at the top right of this screen. Good luck!

Aloha Fraser,
Welcome aboard!! I know you'll find the answer to your question in this forum. Unfortunately, I don't have the answer. I only know that here in Hawaii Yanmar has a wonderful reputation but I've never heard of an outboard. Kind Regards, --John-- |

I believe your the first out of Scottland, I could be wrong
Anyway, I heard of the diesel OB's but no first hand knowledge of the things. I've heard they'll cost you a shinny new penney. Most out board sailors can't afford that. But it's got to be safer and probably out last any gas OB......................._/) |
