Into the Abyss....

Hi ya'll - We just jumped into our first owned boat. 47' Boro Tahiti... and I'm wondering if we've bitten off more than we can chew, but hey - no guts no glory. My wife has no sailing experience, and I've got some offshore from 20+ years back.

We're living aboard and still in our working years but plan on sailing around the brisbane / S.E. Queensland Australia area for the next 3-4 years, and then, God willing, make a break for it.

Lookin forward to learnin & laughing here & it's a pleasure to be a part of the sailing community once again!

Cheers!

Re: Into the Abyss....

G'Day Rebar, and welcome to the CF madhouse. Wonder where you are living aboard in the Brissie area? We'll be back up that way in the fall or early winter... maybe cross wakes somewhere.

Cheers,

Jim

You'll do right. Some nightmares, some frustrations, lots of good times. We did the same (only with a 42' boat). We took "baby steps" to learn to keep from scaring the missus too much. She was petrified at first and then got to no worries on night watches on long trips.

Welcome! I did the same on a 38' boat. Take baby steps, but try to stay one step ahead of maintenance issues. You have to have full trust in your boat!

Thank ya'll... it's an adventure! Not ready to die yet, so I'll tempt fate for a few more years aboard her...
