TV weather warnings

So I'm watching TV last night and there are storms moving across the area. Suddenly the TV goes into that beeping sound like nails on the caulk board; with a storm warning.

Now that is reasonable, but they were only talking about coastral marine dangers. I just couldn't help wondering how many boaters were off the coast in their boat watching TV at the time to make the warning useful. And of course if they had seen it, a 10 minute warning that a storm is coming probably wasn't much use.

The Canadian Coast Guard uses something like that when they have something important to say on the vhf. Certainly gets your attention.

Our Standard Horizon GX2100 VHF will just about toss you out of the bunk when NOAA gives a weather alert. It was a nice option to have as we moved up the east coast this year with all the severe weather.
