Winter berth in Sardinia or Sicily

We are looking for a good location to leave our yacht in either Sardinia or Sicily for the winter, we would appreciate any views or suggestions. We were intending to winter at Marina de Sole, Cagliari but two friends have called in there for us to check it out and they advise that to stay a weekend would be too long, considerably less than basic.

Also, looking for a place on the hard in Sardinia for the months of July and August, need to attend to some seacocks and antifoul then push off into the sunset for the summer. Any suggestions?

Try Marina di Ragusa, Sicily see Porto Turistico di Marina di Ragusa - Sito Ufficiale

Alghero is nice... marina's are fairly basic... pontoons, toilets/showers but acceptably clean... but the town more than compensates for the marina's
Lifts outs I'll leave for some one who's done it

This gives assessments of harbours, marinas etc, modified by the opinions of a lot of the site's readers.

Thanks for the advice, we are currently waiting for responses to emails to various marinas. Best options look to be Licata or Ragousa

Re: Winter berth in Sardinia or Sicily

We have wintered in both Sardinia and Sicily, in Sardinia, we chose Alghero, mainly because of the cheap flights available back to the UK. We used a small pontoon called Ser-Mar run by Fedrerico. He speaks a little english and was very helpful from day one.

In Sicily we are currently in Trapani, on the fr western tip, it is a delightful town, working, rather than touristic, and there is a choice of pontoons and marinas, we chose Columbus Yachting, mainly because we are a small bot and it is a small concern, so we get good attention, and also because they were able to haul out for an extended period so we could get some work done. The local Egadi islands are a great escape only 7 miles offshore, and the Aeolians are only a day and a half away.

Hope this helps
