Put them all in the water anchored with a couple cinder blocks or similar right in front of a fancy waterfront restaurant. Let the homeless live in them stacking as many found "treasures" as possible on the aft deck and attached raft made out of pallets..... oh..... wait.... we've been there done that!

Re: What to do with old boats ?

Always thought buying an old wooden schooner or other large sailboat that was rotten and then having it moved to a piece of land... put it in a trench and living on it would be great! No Permits! However I notice that now they are starting to make laws so you cant live in an RV on your lot i n some places. No way to beat the taxman...

It can't be an RV if it's attached to land. A vehicle moves.

Re: What to do with old boats ?

I would like to see these boats taken to a designated spot and sunk. As a diver I look for sunken boats and they make great arifical reefs. The fish love them. If there was a boat grave yard in 75 to 100 ft of water the divers would come from all over the world to dive them, which would provide an atraction that would provide an income to a community. There is of course a cost to prep the boat to be sunk, but I think the benifit would be there.

I think we should bury them up to the waterline and then use them as land boats or playhouses for kids. They would be great on playgrounds.

I also like the turn the hull upside down and make sheds or emergency housing.

I could also see them buried and turned into interesting hot tubs! We just have to think outside the box and they would not be waste.
