Re-flagging from French to Dutch

I am finalizing purchase of a French flagged blue water cruiser and am considering re-flagging to the Dutch flag.

Can anybody point out negatives on re-flagging from French to Dutch flag?

Thank you

No negatives in my opinion. I reflagged from British to Dutch and it is much cheaper and a very quick process.

I take it that answer is true for the "international" version.
According to the easy online application websites (sorry) there is a basic version for EU and many other countries and one global or international
Basic is about 350 euros vs 1300 for the international....

Based on Projects quotes above make UK registration much cheaper.. SSR is £35-ish/5yrs and the Part 15yrspermanant and under £500..
Be aware taking it off the French register will take around 2 to 3 months.. theyre not quick..

Do you happen to know what sort of paperwork has to be provided for UK registry? The big benefit of Netherlands is the simplicity in documents (contract and passport is enough)

Re: Re-flagging from French to Dutch

Is the OP a Dutchman? Is this a corporate-owned vessel, or is the OP at least aware that typically citizens, sometimes residents, can flag boats to various countries?

That's the start of the pros and cons. Then it becomes a matter of whether you prefer to be protected by the Dutch Navy and governed by Dutch law, or French.

Little things like that.

Flagging a vessel is not simply a matter of convenience, Nigerian oil tankers aside.
