The Winchrite unit is well designed and built for the marine environment. They are not cheap but they are head and shoulders above the right angle drill units. I got mine at Defender several years ago. The current offering: https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=2553334

Yes, but you can do many more things with the Milwaukee 28 that you can't do with a Winchrite.

They are still for sale. We bought one recently.

I can recommend them highly since just yesterday we (drill and I) hauled my 175 lb husband up a 65 foot mast. The drill is now an official crew member called "Mikey".

We also own one and love it. If it’s as advertised I believe it to be well priced.

Ditto to the highly reccomended. No more honking up the main, or grinding on a winch. Just push a button. Can be used on a windlass, main halyard main sheet, jib sheet. Half the price of a winch rite.

I have one of these and it is the best purchase I have made since the autopilot. Works great, strong and fast. It’s just a bit on heavy side.

Question Re: Milwaukee 28 volt angle drill capstan system

Would this drill be powerful enough to raise a 22lb anchor with 50’ chain. I have a Simpson Lawrence manual windlass with 8 point winch.

Easily. It has enough torque to snap your wrist if it gets in a jam.

I use mine to go up a 72 foot mast, raise a 923 sq. ft. main, raise the dinghy, you ame it. Surprised if the winchrite is its equal.

Without a doubt they are better than the Milwaukee. But are they 300% percent better as related to price? I doubt that. Also, as already mentioned the wrench rite is a dedicated tool and the Milwaukee has other purposes.... drilling, wire brushing, breaking wrists, drilling down to the mantle of the earth while looking for oil. You know... common things us sailors do.

According to the specs the Winchrite has specs of 81 ftlbs. Of torque.
The Milwaukee is 1081 ftlbs.

I think that the Milwaukee is rated at 1081 INCH-pounds... or about 90 foot-lbs, making it a bit more torquey than the Winchwrite.

Jim (who also thinks very highly of his Millie)
