4+ hours left, I'd do that! If I were in the PNW! Never in the right place at the right time

Bet $5001 would get it, we will see.

Yeah, the gel etc looks pretty nice in the pics. I love those old "DInette style" interiors. Great place to have your coffee etc.

Wow. '74 with gas engine, shot cushions. Probably needs new sanitation hoses, electrical work galore and who knows what else. You could end up spending 30K on a boat that might be worth 20K if all is right. 30' boats that old are probably not a good deal if someone gave you the boat, which is why someone donated it.

Re: 30' Boat deal alert:PNW

It's in the water. It's floating. It looks well cared for and it's sailable. It's definitely worth 5K no matter if you do have to spend some money for upgrades in the future. Every boat needs upgrades annually, you may as well start with a low purchase price.

Cheechako,

Do you know what it went for?

kind regards,

The best deals are when it is just a buyer and a seller shaking hands. These deals where the whole world is bidding on something, well, it only takes a couple bidders that are foolhardy to make something worth more than it should be.

Someone once said that buying a boat is the same as diging a big hole in the ground and throwing all your money into it.....

Even my $332k Passport needed new sanitation hoses, electrical work and new cushions would have been nice. This appeared to be one of the cleaner ones I've seen, inside and out. Yes ,buyer beware for sure. Old islanders were built well (the 28 I looked at last summer had a huge rudder shaft, possibly 1.75-2") This boat was loaded too and you could tell well cared for. To each his own. There are 30 footers out there for $5-12K, but most Ive looked at were trash. Luckily I was away for the day or I might be a 2 boat owner!

Re: 30' Boat deal alert:PNW

If it were diesel, and it worked, and it went for the $2000 price, it would have been a good deal.
