SIM card for iPad in the BVI

I'm exploring the possibility of buying a SIM while in the BVIs for my AT&T iPad 2. If anyone has done this, please share your experience. Other crew member has a Verizon iPad 3 and would like to do the same.

Would the iPad be locked to AT&T?

I used mine in November for 2 weeks and it used my domestic data plan. I had purchased 120 meg of international but the Mb usage came off my AT&T domestic plan. Sailed Tortola, VG , Anageda and JVD.

From what I can tell, the AT&T iPad 2 (GSM) is not locked to AT&T, but the Verizon iPad 2 does not work outside the US as Verizon is CDMA technology, and this has become rare in the world outside the U.S.

It's just a matter of getting a micro sim card (I have a cutter)...
