Re: Beers in St. Maarten

In addition to the Italians — and breakfast was really good today — we've found a locals hangout called Negril. Surprisingly, the cuisine is Jamaican. We probably won't make it to Marigot, but more good eats are in the offing, or so I hope.

Re: Beers in St. Maarten

Summer reading:

I arrived reading "The Long Hard Road Out of Hell," which is the autobiography of Marylin Manson. It is a perfect storm of appalling and hilarious and outrageous and evil.

I finished that on Tuesday, and started on "One Girl, One Dream." I'm finding that I have more admiration for this 14-year-old girl than I do for many adults I've known in my life. If you don't know her story, I strongly urge you read Laura Dekker's book.

Re: Beers in St. Maarten

We went to Carnival City last night for the Calypso competition. I had no idea that Calypso music was so political! From religion to spousal abuse to St. Maarten independence, every song had an agenda. It was a good time, and we had some fantastic island barbeque.

My wife and I debated briefly about whether to go to Mexico or St. Maarten. I'm quite happy with our decision, despite that Mexico always provides more bang for the buck.

PS; Don't eat at the Marina Royale restaurants they're crap.. especially the so called Thai.
The Thai place is closed for over a month now. However, Le Crossantaria is the best place for Breakfast on either side of the island. I like the French side food much better than the Dutch side.
