Stern Tube Leakage

I have had a slow leak into my bilge for the last couple of years and have never been able to determine where it was coming from, After some serious investigative work, I finally determined that the leak was from the stern tube where it exists from the hull. When I hauled the boat last fall, I could see the water seeping back out of the outer diameter of the stern tube. I used a sharp pick and dug out the fiberglass to a depth of approx one inch. Question is, should I fiberglass it back in or should I use 5200 to re-seal it or what should I do. Boat is an 8.3 Columbia. Pictures show before and after. Thanks
