need to find template for bending jig for dodger frames

Does anyone have a diagram for a dodger frame bending jig?
I need to bend a couple of 1" 316 tubing (0.065 wall) for my solar and want to follow the arc of the existing dodger.
TIA

Some questions might be...
-What is the radius now?
-What method of bending will you be using?
-Do you have a non-marine fab shop in Kingston?

Does anyone know if an EMT bender will work for that?

Fill & pack the tubing with damp sand-wooden plug the ends.
Find an electrician with a conduit bender.
Bring the old bow with you & bend new one carefully to match.
Or,if you can't bring the old bow,use large sheet of cardboard to make a pattern for at least port or stbd half of bow.
Check Youtube for bending steel pipe.

Looks like a homemade jig here:

Re: need to find template for bending jig for dodger frames

Homemade jig is my plan... its just to make the "Crown". no bends at the end. Will be going from handrail to handrail across the dodge to support 2 solar panels. I want to follow the contour snugly so I minimize the affect on visibility from the helm.
So while it is a very simple bend, I do want to make a jig so I can have symmetry.
This would be perfect.

Re: need to find template for bending jig for dodger frames

Man, that guy does it the hard way, dragging it through the crowning tool? No wonder he doesn’t want “to take to many passes”. Lol. A good crowning tool has a handle and turns all three wheels.
Pipe benders are not the same as tube benders. Kinking and ridges are hard to avoid unless using the right tools.
Any shop that make’s dodgers and Bimini”s will have the tools, the proper tools. If you are friendly and happy to throw some cash their way it’s pretty likely they would bend your tube for/with you.
Did that myself last year, was going to build a crowning tool but a local shop was happy enough to crown the tube for me.
And, probably a good place to get the tube, which is now idiotically expensive, $12/ft if you are lucky.
As for the radius, you will likely find that the bends are all very close. Make a cardboard template of yours and check it on their bender.

Caveat: I haven't tried this with stainless steel but I have done it with aluminum and mild steel tubing.

What I've done is make a bending jig similar to the one shown in Spot's post (above), but with a semi-circular groove made by a router and two passes with a cove bit. (You could probably do the same thing in one pass with a plunge-ball bit but I happened to already have a cove bit of the right size.) The semi-circular groove supports the tube so that it doesn't oval out or kink while bending. Make sure the fit is as tight as possible--almost too tight is just right.

Personally , I would not do it myself just trace the dodger frame and take it to a machine shop
Good luck

Building a steel boat we used this on sch 80 2" pipe and everything else.
I still have it, and use it for projects.

As Celestialsailor asks, what is the bend radius on your existing dodger?
A 1/2" EMT conduit bender bends to about a ±5" radius (4-11/32" in Centerline Bend Radius), and a 3/4" EMT bender gives about a ±6"radius (5-13/64" in Centerline Bend Radius). There’s some small variance between manufacturers.
The wall thickness of Electrical Metalic Tubing (EMT) is:
˝” nominal trade size (actual Outside Diameter 0.706") ≈ 0.042" (1.07 mm)
3/4" (O.D. 0.922") ≈ 0.049" (1.25 mm)
1" (O.D. 1.163") ≈ 0.057" (1.45 mm)

There are no measurable bends required, just the "Crown" which is about 3" in the middle of a 6' bar. But I really want to make it even.

Something like this might work, built onto an 8' 1x 6 or something. You'd have to add a bock for 3" and a reference line or board edge for 0".
