My first Project

Hello everyone! Well, i'm a boat enthusiast from Brasil and i'm thinking to build a boat, more especifficaly a sail yacht, based of the Hamilton II, almost the same hull and i'm planning to make it of wood ( appropiate for boat building ) but since i don't have enough knowledge about building one and i could't find much information/resource about it so i came here to ask this question, It's possible to make the Hamilton II hull of wood? In fact if i have success in planning this project i would keep updating how the project is going here Every answer is appreciated.

Hi Solar,

I have no experience in boat building, although I it feels like I've rebuilt my boat with all the hours I've put into it. But welcome and good luck.

Re: My first Project

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, SolarSailer.

If this* is the yacht, you might ask the designer, Philippe Briand.

However, I don’t think that a 118 foot yacht is ideal for a freshman project.

Thanks! Well i think that too hehe but since boat construction is expensive i would like to already start "big", in fact one of my "pals" that is going to work in the project have knowledge of smaller and medium boat building. And about asking the designer, isn't possible to tell me that just looking at the boat and some "basics" specifications? and what makes you think that he would tell me that kind of "information", they're friendly? Hehehe

This one?

Definitely can be done in wood. Possibly cold molded, e.g. But maybe some challenge for a beginner.

All you can do is ask.

FWIW: “Hamilton II” was built in carbon fibre composite.
